Hoji Cha is roasted Japanese tea. Called stem tea because both the bancha tea leaf and stem are blended together and roasted. The process gives this tea a nutty, warming aroma and flavor. With half the caffeine compared to other green teas due to the inclusion of tea stems. The brew delivers robust flavor without the heaviness, making for a smooth and savory cup of tea.

The tea master where this tea is made was recently awarded Top Tea Connoisseur in Japan. This company bypasses the government tea auctions and purchases their tea directly from the farmers. This way the tea farmers get a higher price for their crop. In addition, the tea manufacturer knows the tea source. You benefit from this arrangement, getting a consistent-tasting and high quality tea.

Amelia A. ★★★★★

The nutty, roasted flavor is so comforting—perfect for cold afternoons. I love that it uses both the leaf and stem for a deeper taste.

Christopher J. ★★★★★

I've been drinking this every evening after dinner and the roasted flavor is so warm and comforting, nothing like the green teas I usually buy. You can really taste the toasted stems, it's smooth with zero bitterness even when I forget and let it steep too long.

Grace ★★★★★

The nutty aroma hits you the second you open the bag, way warmer than the green teas I usually drink. Steeping the leaf-and-stem blend for about three minutes gives a mellow cup that doesn't turn bitter if I forget to take the leaves out.
