Brew yerba maté the traditional way with an authentic yerba maté gourd and bombilla set, handcrafted in Argentina. Each gourd is made from a dried calabash gourd, meaning no two are exactly alike, and the metal casing is made from alpaca silver, a durable alloy similar to stainless steel.

Available as: gourd with bombilla, gourd only, bombilla only - so you can complete your setup however you need.

How to brew: Fill your gourd 2/3 full with yerba maté, insert the bombilla, and pour water heated to 175-185°F (just under boiling) along the side of the gourd. If you find it bitter, add honey to taste. Brew multiple times until the flavor fades.

Curing your gourd (required before first use): Pour near-boiling water into the gourd, let it sit for 5 minutes, pour it out, then scrape away any seeds and pulp. That's it - your gourd is now ready to use.

Care tip: After each session, empty spent leaves, dry the inside with a paper towel, and store in a well-ventilated spot to prevent mold.

The calabash gourd has this lovely uneven shape that makes it feel genuinely handmade, not molded in a factory. Curing it took a couple days but now my morning mate tastes earthy and clean, and the set looks nice enough to leave on the counter.

Sophia ★★★★★

The bombilla filters the leaves so well that I barely get any grit in my sips, which was my main worry before trying loose yerba. My gourd has a slightly lopsided shape and a couple of dark spots, but honestly that's what makes it feel handmade rather than mass produced.

The calabash gourd has such a nice weight in my hand, and I love that no two are carved the same. The bombilla filters the leaves perfectly, so no gritty sips at the bottom.
