Sweet and smooth tea notes set the stage, allowing the smoky aftertaste to drift and linger. While the smoke is prominent, it's not aggressive. Biscuity undertones balance smokiness.

Russian Caravan tea history goes back to overland trading routes of the 1600s and 1700s. Traders used camel caravans from China and other tea-producing regions, through Russia, and into Europe. According to lore, the abundance of campfire smoke on this route gave the tea a characteristic, prized flavor. Souchong denotes older, larger leaves on the tea plant. While the younger buds (or golden tips) are typically most sought-after, this process of smoking older tea leaves created a new phenomenon—now a mainstay of the tea world.

Fortunately, we get to enjoy this tea without hopping on a camel or journeying across Mongolia. If you're curious about smoked tea, Russian Caravan is an ideal place to start.

A made in Montana tea.

Joseph ★★★★★

I was worried the smoke would overpower everything, but it drifts in gently behind the sweet, smooth base and lingers just long enough. The biscuity note keeps it from tasting like an ashtray, which is exactly what I wanted from a smoky black tea.

Sebastian D. ★★★★★

That smoky finish really does drift instead of slapping you, and the biscuity undertone makes it oddly comforting for an afternoon cup. Brewed it a bit strong and still got that sweet smoothness underneath, no bitterness at all. This is becoming my everyday black tea.

Scarlett ★★★★★

The smoky aroma hits right when you open the bag, but the taste is way smoother than I braced for—that biscuity note really does mellow it out. I've been drinking it black every afternoon and the lingering finish is exactly what I wanted from a caravan blend.
