Category: Black Tea

Our organic Sri Lankan (formerly Ceylon) steeps up with a brisk, hearty feel that this island nation's tea is known for. Strong woodsy aroma makes a pleasant first impression. The flavor settles into earthy, with a clean mineral note—full, but not too heavy—and a crisp finish.

The small leaf size brews quick and strong, making this an excellent cup to get you going in when you need a caffeine jolt.

Englishman James Taylor introduced tea to Sri Lanka in the 1860's. Sri Lanka is now a major exporter of tea, much of which is orthodox black tea to the Middle East and Russia.

Formerly known as the British Colony of Ceylon in 1815, Sri Lanka achieved independence from Britain in 1948 and renamed itself Sri Lanka in 1972. In 2011, the Sri Lankan government had a goal to remove the name Ceylon from all things it had control over, including tea. Cheers to the sovereign Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, the fourth highest producer of tea worldwide!

Joshua ★★★★★

The woodsy aroma hits you the second the hot water touches the leaves, and it lingers in the kitchen for a while. I've been drinking it plain in the mornings and the flavor holds up without turning bitter, even when I forget and let it steep a bit long.

Samuel ★★★★★

That brisk, hearty feel is exactly what I look for in a morning cup, and this delivers without any bitterness. The strong woodsy aroma fills the kitchen the moment the water hits the leaves.

Madison Y. ★★★★★

I brewed this first thing this morning and the brisk, hearty character really did wake me up better than my usual black tea. There’s a strong woodsy note that lingers nicely, but it doesn't turn bitter even after a few minutes of steeping.
